The Byrd Expedition

Catalog Code:
P- 602
Description:

Artist, Charles Relyea, certainly idealized this scene with the glowing sun barely visible over the horizon between sparkling mountains of ice and snow in the Antarctic.  Doubtful if the Byrd Expedition (1928) was as tranquil as this scene and Byrd himself nearly died during his 1933 expedition. In all, he made 5 trips to the Antarctic. Pastime puzzle made by Parker Brothers, Salem, MA 1930.  Plywood, interlocking, cut along color lines with 24 figure pieces
