David Copperfield Leaving Margate

Catalog Code:
P- 966
Description:

Pastime puzzle well cut by #133, Parker Brothers, Salem, MA 1931.  Plywood, interlocking, cut along color lines with 43 figure pieces.  Artist is Albert. Ludovici, Jr.  From Dickens' "David Copperfield".  A prior owner had attempted to make a replacement piece by scotch taping over the SURFACE of the surrounding pieces in order to hold the pieces together as he traced the hole of the missing piece.  Removal of the tape also removed much of the picture on approximately 20 pieces, leading to a major restoration project requiring use of paints.  Of course, the replacement done by the former owner had to be replaced as well.
