Appealing scene of children praying for the safety of their father (presumably) before a map of France where he would be serving in WW I.  Unknown maker; solid wood, semi-interlocking.  For you skeptics, I was taught to pray for my father at bedtime during WW II. After 2 and a half years serving in N. Africa, Sicily and Italy and receiving 4 battle stars, he did return safely (although suffering "battle fatigue").  Artist: R. M. Brett.
