D 6 Mr. Pecksniff Leaves for London

Catalog Code:
2- 20951
Description:

Zag-Zaw puzzle made by Raphael Tuck & Sons, London, England in the 1930's.  Plywood, interlocking with 40 figure pieces.  Scene from Charles Dickens' novel, Martin Chuzzlewit.  While the colors are terrific, the print used is actually 3 sheets of paper with the picture printed on the top sheet.  Unfortunately, the adhesive between the sheets and the glue attaching the print to the plywood has failed and I was forced to reglue paper for 65 pieces (sometimes all 3 sheets) and recolor 3 pieces because the top sheet with picture had been lost.  Another massive restoration job; the result speaks for itself.  Artist is, of course, Albert Ludovici, Jr.
