The Drover's Horse Drinking

Catalog Code:
2- 20529
Description:

Charles Hart, Christchurch, NZ, cut a large batch of puzzles (including this one) in 1936 during the Great Recession in anticipation his wife would run a lending library after his death to earn money.  She never did and the entire lot, assembled and wrapped in cellophane, was stored for nearly 70 years until sold to me in 2004.  I have written up full story as insert with puzzle.  Hart's style is interlocking edges; non-interlocking, extensive and at times brilliant color line cutting for the interior. Because the puzzles were still in their original cellophane when I received them, the only work I had to do was to sand the backs.  He had forgot to do that!  Artist signature difficult to read but may be Waugh.  Scene appears to be of New Zealand or Australia.
