Lassoing the Bear

Catalog Code:
2- 00244
Description:

Great action scene cut by unknown maker. Plywood, interlocking. Unfortunately, maker's blade was not perfectly perpendicular when he/she cut the puzzle resulting in a tight fit and some pieces fitting in from only one direction.  One of our viewers has identified the artist as R. Farrington Elwell, (1874 - 1962).  Born near Boston, Massachusetts, he became one of the better-known late 19th and early 20th Century illustrators, painters and sculptors of western subjects and was noted for his portrayal of bears and horses standing on their hind legs.  Part of our "wild bear collection" displayed at: https://www.oldpuzzles.com/examples-collection/wild-bear-puzzles.
