Description:

Roland Chesley, Buckfield, ME interlocking puzzle cut in the 1960's from a Currier & Ives print for the July 1965 Travelers calendar.  We met Mr. Chesley in 1970 at his old farmhouse and commissioned him to cut over 40 puzzles for us during the next 5 years (but not this one).  He cut his puzzles in an old barn, even in the dead of winter, heating provided by a single wood stove fed by rejected dowels from a nearby dowel factory.  He was well over 80 at the time!  I think of him when people complain about the cold.  No repairs needed.
