Colorful, interlocking puzzle attributed to Joseph K. Straus, Brooklyn, NY.  Artist is Edward Walker.  J. Edward Walker was born in England in 1880.  By 1913 Walker had arrived in northern California.  He taught at the Carmel Arts & Crafts Club in 1913-16, Los Altos in the late 1920's, and Berkeley in 1932.  His oeuvre includes landscapes of Mt Diablo and the Monterey Peninsula as well as floral still lifes.  A plein-air painter, his works are those of an academically trained artist. askART
