This glorious scene was cut as a Pastime puzzle by Parker Brothers in 1929. The colors of the ships, sails, and clouds result in a surprisingly difficult puzzle. In the dark ship (if you can enlarge it) you can see the cutter used what I call the curl style. 42 figure pieces, in accordance with the Pastime norm of 12 figure pieces per 100 puzzle pieces. These are warships but with many of the characteristics of galleons. Artist is Bernard Finegan Gribble (1872 - 1962) who was a prolific British marine artist and illustrator.
