Rocks—No Rocks

Catalog Code:
1- 1246
Description:

Presumably, “rocks” refers to beach scene and “no rocks” to insert of man ordering drink at bar. A most unusual scene back in 1893 when artist Ansel Johnson created the picture. Perplexity puzzle cut by Margaret Richardson, New York, NY 1909 c. Solid wood, non-interlocking, cut along color lines. Her “squiggly” elongated style is quite apparent here. Box top and bottom are included in display picture to show distinctiveness of Mrs. Richardson’s labels, especially the image of a “perplexed" man assembling a puzzle on a tray in his lap.
