Parker Brothers Pastime puzzle cut by #42 in an early angular style.  Interlocking, cut along color lines with 32 figure pieces.  Artist is the well known J.S. Sanderson Wells.  John Sanderson-Wells was a British painter best known for his naturalistic depictions of equestrian scenes, portraits, and 18th-century genre scenes. Born in 1872 in London, he went on to study at the Slade School of Art in London and later at the Académie Julian in Paris. From 1895 onward Sanderson-Wells exhibited at both the Royal Academy in London and was elected to the Royal Institute in 1903. Much of his work was commissioned by the gentry and so remains in private collections. The artist died in 1955 in London.  Artnet.
