Perfect brand of cardboard puzzle made by Consolidated Paper Box Co. in Somerville, MA  1930s.  Serial # 1410.  McCann code SM023.  Part of our "wild bear" series.  Our Mama bear is likely to be shot by the hunter coming through the woods; the cub bears are probably old enough to survive on their own.  Artist is the well known Philip R. Goodwin (1881 – 1935), an American painter and illustrator who specialized in depictions of wildlife, the outdoors, fishing, hunting and the Old American West. He provided illustrations for numerous books and magazines, as well as for commercial items, such as posters, advertisements and calendars.
