As Sydney Carton mounts the guillotine, he thinks of his worthless life to be redeemed by his pending sacrifice for the happiness and safety of the Darney family; he has kept his promise to Lucie to save a life dear to her.  "It is a far, far better thing that I do, than I have ever done; it is a far, far better rest that I go to than I have ever known."  Dickens' "Tale of Two Cities", Book 3, Chapter 15.  Pastime puzzle cut by #16 and 6, Parker Brothers, Salem, MA 1928.  Plywood, interlocking, cut along color lines with 13 figure pieces.  Another big restoration project to save this classic puzzle: 2 pieces replaced, 18 knobs repaired, 15 pieces rebuilt, 17 pieces relaminated, wash; touch-up.  Was it worth it?  Artist: Fred Barnard (1878).
