The Three Emperors on the Battlefield of Leipzig

Catalog Code:
P- 682
Description:

A spectacular Pastime puzzle made by Parker Brothers, Salem, MA, 1910's.  Plywood, semi-interlocking, cut along color lines with 74 figure pieces. Artist is W.A. Roehling. The battle took place in October 1913 and involved the coalition armies of Russia, Prussia, Austria and Sweden against the French army of Napoleon (with some Polish, Italian and German forces).  Napoleon was decisively defeated and had to return to France and eventually abdicated in 1814 and was exiled to Elba.  Presumably, the 3 emperors depicted are the Russian, Prussian and Austrian emperors.
