Unusual set of 2 puzzles, one is 2-sided with maps of United States and the World, the other is a Railroad and County Map of New England. Both puzzles fit snugly into a sturdy handmade wood box with no markings. The provenance suggests that a traveling school teacher in the 1880's transferred 2 Silent Teacher puzzles into a very sturdy, hand made box which he could carry along on his travels without fear of damage to the puzzles. Both puzzles are made of solid wood and "United States" is color line cut around the states. A most unusual piece of history. Donated to American Antiquarian Society in Worcester, MA.
