Warriors!

Catalog Code:
2- 207
Description:

One of the original puzzles picked up by my grandmother in the late 1930's, the maker remained unknown because of loss of original box, until publication in 1990 of Anne Williams’ book, "Jigsaw Puzzles: An Illustrated History and Price Guide". In her discussion on page 43 of puzzle maker, Carroll Towne of Auburndale, MA, Anne mentions "each puzzle included his cat-shaped signature piece." In the lower right section of "Warriors!" is this distinctive signature piece, a cat with an arched back and tail straight up. The puzzle also contains 15 figure pieces related to the picture including the title, "Warriors!" and is deceptively cut along color lines. Towne used his initials to create the brand name, "CAT" for his line of puzzles.
