Unknown maker of this beautiful well cut puzzle  Interlocking with extensive color line cutting.  Probably the top puzzle in the Briarwood lot.  Artist is F.M. Spiegle.  Frederick M Spiegle (1863-1942) was a prolific artist, creating both etchings and oil illustrations of wildlife for various publications.  He married Emma D Meuller in 1898 in New York City. They had no children. In the artist's obituary in the "New York Times", December 20, 1942, it was written that "Frederick M Spiegle painter of wildlife and etcher, died (yesterday) after a long illness. Through his interest in big game hunting, Mr. Spiegle became a friend of President Theodore Roosevelt.  askART
