Description:

Betsy W. Burbank cut this unusual picture into a challenging puzzle by cutting four irregular edges and along some of the color lines within the picture, in a "1-by-1" round knob style. That is, the edges between pieces look like interlocking, reciprocal rows of round "teeth". She also cut the initials "JV" into the puzzle.
Betsey Wilson Burbank (1947-1986) lived in Norton, Massachusetts, and made a number of wood jigsaw puzzles for family and friends.  She was inspired by her grandfather F. Spencer Arend (1886-1958) of Newtonville, MA.  A graduate of MIT, he cut many puzzles during the Great Depression to help make ends meet when he was out of work. Information on Ms Burbank and Mr. Arend supplied by Anne Williams.  Thank you, Anne!
