Description:

This was how football was played over a century ago, much like a rugby scrum! Picture is from November 25, 1900 edition of Chicago Tribune, artist is G.C. Widney, cutter is unknown, cut style is straight-line strip, a compromise between the styles of the 19th century and the first decade of the 20th century, picture date suggests about 1900, but is not positive proof.  Plywood, non-interlocking.  Puzzle came in old glove box, probably original and puzzle was cut by an "amateur".  Compare with First Football Game
