La Salome

Terrific scene, colors, unknown artist.  Pastime puzzle cut by #754, Parker Brothers, Salem, MA.  Plywood, interlocking, cut along color lines with 93 figure pieces.  Salome is performing the dance of the 7 veils before Herod and her mother, Herodias, which ultimately led to her demanding the severed head of John the Baptist  which she proceeded to declare her love to and kiss.   Upon realizing how cruel and dangerous she had become, Herod ordered Salome put to death.  Rickard Straus wrote a one act opera based on this scene as did Antoine Mariotte.
