Rook Shooting at Dingley Dell

Catalog Code:
2- 20279
Description:

Red Top series made in "The Garret" by R.T. Novelties, 24 T Wharf, Boston, MA, ca.1925. Plywood, semi-interlocking, cut along color lines in a simpler scroll style not quite as elaborate as later puzzles. Artist: Cecil Aldin. From Ch. 7, Dickens’ Pickwick Papers. “Mr. Winkle advanced, and leveled his gun. Mr. Pickwick and his friends cowered involuntarily to escape damage from the heavy fall of rooks, which they felt quite certain would be occasioned by the devastating barrel of their friend. There was a solemn pause—a shout—a flapping of wings—a faint click. . . ‘Missed fired’ said Mr. Winkle, who was very pale, probably from disappointment."
