Puzzle Parley (AGPC meeting devoted to jigsaw puzzles)

November 7-9, 2008

Don't miss our important jigsaw puzzle meeting scheduled for November 7-9, 2008 in Sturbridge, MA. There is a reduction in price for early registration, and hotel rooms at reduced price should be booked early. More details about the meeting and how to register.

The Puzzle Parleys were initiated back in 1994 by Pagey Elliott and me with a lot of assistance from Anne Williams, primarily to bring puzzle makers together to discuss and display their work. We expanded the meetings and program in the late '90s to include puzzle collectors and enthusiasts so that puzzle makers would have an opportunity to show and sell their puzzles and so everyone could learn from each other. There is no other meeting in the US so devoted to jigsaw puzzles and their making. From an initial 20 attendees back in 1994, attendance has grown so that we expect 80 in November. Everyone interested in jigsaw puzzles is invited.

This meeting is a "golden opportunity" for puzzle makers to meet each other and discuss their mutual concerns, and for puzzle collectors and enthusiasts to learn about the history, making and preservation of puzzles as well as to view and buy lots of old and new puzzles! And you will meet the faces behind the Internet world of jigsaw puzzles and make friends with other “puzzle people”. Email (raahna@oldpuzzles.com) or call (508-799-0644) me if you have questions.

Also on display will be the 15 new puzzles, all cut by different cutters from the same scene and displayed at the AGPC Showcase in Charleston, SC earlier this month, as well as any additional puzzles submitted before November. Puzzle makers interested in participating should email (melinda@jardinpuzzles.com) or call (978-897-3499) Melinda Shebell for more details and to obtain the image and instructions for cutting.

The meeting will be co-chaired by myself and Melinda Shebell, creator of the 3 incredible composite puzzles contributed to by many current makers and presented to Pagey Elliott, Anne Williams and me at our last 2 meetings. All 3 masterpieces will be on display and discussed by Melinda herself at our November meeting.
